Robert
and Shana ParkeHarrison are a duo photography team. They create landscapes and
surreal visions with faded colors and incomplete stories, which show the
relationship between nature, technology and human kind. Their use of scenery,
space and color are what inspire me to revisit my work from last spring; their
photos have a lot of depth and detail put into the background, while the
subjects are never fully identified and their actions are never fully clear,
always ambiguous. Gautier’s Dream is
the series I am specifically drawing from ParkeHarrison. In Gautier’s Dream, they specifically play
between the themes of life and death by creating visions of bizarre relationships
with human kind, animals, technology, and the fine line between life and the
paranormal. The movements of the subjects are always blurred, and the dynamic
between humans and animals is always otherworldly. I continue to look to
ParkeHarrison for inspiration for my works.
